Johan Floderus was born and raised in Sweden. After graduating from the University of Oxford, he began his career at the European Commission in Brussels, where he worked as an aid policy officer with a focus on Afghani- stan. In April 2022, during a private trip, he was arrested in Iran and falsely charged with espionage. After more than two years in prison, eight months of which in solitary con- finement, he was released as part of a prisoner exchange between Sweden and Iran. He recently published his first book: “Hostage in Iran – My 790 days in captivity”.
