Amrita Mahale was born in Mumbai and grew up in five cities across India. Milk Teeth, her debut novel, was published by Westland Context to widespread acclaim in 2018. It was longlisted for the JCB Prize for Literature and shortlisted for the Crossword Book Award for Fiction. She trained as an aerospace engineer at IIT Bombay and Stanford University. Her highly anticipated second novel, Real Life, is a multilayered and powerful story of female friendship, set to be published soon by Penguin Random House India. Mahale is known for her nuanced, character-driven narratives that explore contemporary Indian life.
