Bhavika Govil was born in New Delhi and dreams often of the sea. Her debut novel, Hot Water, was a finalist for the DHA New Writers’ Open Week, and an excerpt won the Pontas & JJ Bola Emerging Writers Prize. The novel is currently being translated into multiple languages.
Her short fiction has appeared in Wasafiri, Extra Teeth, Gutter, A Case of Indian Marvels, and more. She won the Bound Short Story Prize and was shortlisted for the Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize. Bhavika holds a master’s in creative writing from the University of Edinburgh and teaches writing workshops both online and in person.
