Madhura Phatak is a Kathak exponent and national awardee. She has performed extensively in India and abroad, often earning accolades from dance critics. She was awarded M.phil in German Studies for her thesis discussing,  DANCE AS A SEMIOTIC TRANSLATION OF LITERATURE. To complete this research she studied the German dance theater of PINA BAUSCH, delved into contemporary choreography and analyzed new aesthetic paradigms. She is a versatile artist and teacher. In her process of healing and artistic evolution she has been working on herself to develop movement and extensions of movement from those registered in her body memory. In her perspective “ Each body has its own intelligence and capacity to evolve its own visual language and expression.”

Madhura has worked extensively with adults and children, created fun activities and workshops for them with the belief that arts is necessary to keep us curiously engaged and excited about our environment in a healthy way. A multifaceted personality, Madhura has worked till date with more than 30000 children and young adolescents over two decades and given lecture demonstrations for teachers invited by CCRT. Recently she has also conducted “Dance to Happiness” workshops for MCD school teachers as part of Samadhan Abhiyan’s (Delhi) work with POCSO awareness.
