Sonam Wangchuk started his career in the Tourism and Hospitality industry in 2006 as a freelance tour guide, when he was just 18 years old. At the same time, he was pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management and Catering Technology at the Madras University in India. After graduation, he joined Amankora Bhutan’s international luxury brand resort as a management trainee, where he eventually rose to the position of Hotel Manager. As the Hotel Manager, he is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations of the 5 Amankora lodges.
He is also the Chairman of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Bhutan, a position he has served in since 2019.
