Tsherin Sherpa, born in Kathmandu in 1968, is an internationally acclaimed artist blending traditional Tibetan Thangka painting with contemporary pop culture. Trained by his father, Master Urgen Dorje, Sherpa’s work bridges sacred and secular themes, reflecting his Himalayan diaspora experience. He has exhibited worldwide, including representing Nepal at the 2022 Venice Biennale, and participated in major events like the Thailand Biennale and Yokohama Triennale. His art is held in prestigious collections such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, Rubin Museum, and Queensland Art Gallery. In 2022, the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts hosted his mid-career retrospective.
