Bhutan Echoes in collaboration with the English Programme at Sherubtse College hosted a Story Read aloud event on Wednesday, the 9th of November, in an effort to engage young children in a fun literary activity. Through the event, we aim to inculcate a love of reading at an early age and promote lifelong learning and storytelling.
The event took place at the Sherubtse Nursery Center (ECCD) with children from the Sherubtse ECCD center and the Kanglung Thubten Choekorling Shedra.
The student volunteers read stories with voices full of enthusiasm, action, and props, which made their storytelling come to life. The children radiated joy and excitement as they listened and read along the tales. The children read along and one child even requested to tell her own story!
This was Bhutan Echoes’ first step in extending their monthly program outside of Thimphu and decentralizing the programs so that it is made inclusive and accessible to all.
